about the artist

Margaret grew up in the bustling town of Purpleville, just north of Toronto. Since childhood, Margarets’ fascination with drawing and creating was steady, and eventually lead her to  pursue a career in the arts.

With a grounding commitment to solid drawing skills, Margaret eventually made her way to pastel. “I feel most at home with a stick of pastel in my hand”.

Her pastel paintings have been exhibited in national and International exhibitions both in Canada and in the United States. Her pastel work has been seen and awarded in exhibitions with: The Pastel Society of America (NYC-The National Art Club), The Pastel Artists of Canada(various locations, Toronto, Vancouver, Hamilton and more) and the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada (Montreal).

Margarets’ teaching has expanded to include many art clubs, (Barrie Art Club, Don Valley Art Club, Willowdale group of artists) art associations, art schools (Haliburton school of the Arts, Pontiac school of the Arts), and public (McMichael art Gallery) and private galleries (Kevin Dodds art Gallery, Ottawa) around Ontario, and plein air pastel workshops in France, Spain, Italy and CostaRica, and Peru.

Margaret’s own artwork often suggest man, and his connection to the natural world. Having a big love for nature and extensive experience hiking, many of her most recent important pieces convey this connection of man and nature.
